Khaled Hamza.. the man I knew

Today I knew that Eng. Khaled Hamza "the editor-in-chief of the official English website of the Muslim Brotherhood http://www.ikhwanweb.com/" was arrested.

Hamza was arrested from the street and 90 MBs joined him in jail today morning. It seems that this campaign against the MB society is strongly related to the intention of the corrupted Egyptian regimen to besiege the MBs a few days before the sentencing session of the military tribunal to issue a ruling on the yearlong case as well as preventing the MBs candidates from running their election campaigns in the local elections of governorates.

I don't want to speak about these political issues because all media is talking about it night & day but I want to write about Eng. Khaled, the man that I knew.

I can claim that Eng. Khaled is one of the best, smartest and most important minds I've ever met, not only inside the Muslim brotherhood movement but also in the Islamic and political scene in the Arab world as a whole.

I met him a few times before, and I owe him a lot of my knowledge specially "rulers theory" which he taught me.

I met him by chance few hours before being abducted, he welcomed me a lot and gave me a gift. It was the book of Michael moore "Stupid white men".
Khaled is a very, well-cultured and open minded man, moreover he's also very descent and gentle.

This Man has got a lot of chronic diseases which are eating into the bodies of Egyptians, however he doesn't complain about his diseases and thus I don't know what he got exactly.

Khaled has a number of young sons and a great Syrian wife, I didn't meet her but I'm sure she's as much great as him. (Behind every great man a great woman).

Khaled was able, with a very small work team, to reach the whole world and to build and maintain a strong relationships with members of civil community from allover the world. This is not due to anything as far as his culture and open mind.

He deserved to be arrested from the street like criminals because we live under the control of rotten regimen which detains honorable and wise men and leave rein of thieves and criminals.

I have nothing to do but writing about this great man , and pray for him to be free soon in the midst of his wife and kids.

Rights Report: Egypt Detained 3245 MBs in 2007

A human rights report confirmed that some 3245 Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members have been detained in Egypt in 2007, including 2204 placed in a provisional detention, 613 detainees and 428 under custody.

The report "Absent Justice" issued by Sawasya Center for Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination, a copy of which was obtained by Ikhwanweb, details detentions and cases against the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in 2007.

The 33-pages report shows that 207 MB members are still in prisons as the year is coming to an end, including 33 MB leaders facing a military tribunal, 90 detainees and 84 under custody.

It also showed that both governorates of Giza and Sharqiya account for the biggest number of detainees (about 16%) and 103 cases were referred to the Supreme State Security Prosecution (SSSP).

For his part, the Muslim Brotherhood-leaning manager of Sawasya centre said that the report is issued to mark the first anniversary of the athletic show performed by Al-Azhar students, (triggering the so called Al-Azhar students case.).

Lawyer Abdul Moneim Abdul Maqsoud told that that the report "doesn"t aim to defend the Muslim Brotherhood. It aims to show that there are many indications that the rights and freedoms of a specific movement and its members are violated. This is the first report to be allocated for the Muslim Brotherhood."

The report allocated a full chapter for reviewing the military tribunal against 40 MB leaders. It reported the so called violations during the investigations. Abdul Maqsood explained these violations, saying:" There were premeditated intentions to arrest leaders in order to weaken and undermine the structure of the group. This can be seen from the human rights perspective as the repressing the biggest opposition movement in Egypt , instead of bolstering the political participation".

Conflicting reports, ambiguity

On the other hand, there are conflicting reports regarding dropping the charges of terrorism and money laundry against MB leaders in the military tribunal. Ikhwanonline.com the group"s Arabic official website said the situation is still shrouded in mystery.

Abdul Maqsood- the leader of the MB defence panel- attributed this conflict to the fact that they failed in getting an official copy of the court ruling last Monday morning, while some lawyers and families of the detainees only reported what they understood from the ruling inside the courtroom on Sunday.

However, the defence team member Nasser Al Hafi * said that: "The terrorism charge has been already dropped and the money laundry charge will likely be dropped as well", stressing that they wrote the court ruling and compared it with the session minutes. He saw that these turns move towards easing sentences from execution or long prison sentences, the punishment for terrorism and running an organization, to 1-5 prison sentences, the punishment for joining to a banned organization.

A political negotiation

Commenting on those developments, Diaa Rashwan, an expert in Islamic groups affairs at Al-Ahram Center for strategic and political studies, said:" this reflect a kind of political negotiation between the regime and the group, specially as other important files are opened, like lifting subsidies and municipal elections".

He told Ikhwanweb that "The regime may be seeking a calming down through easing the rulings which are expected to be range between one to five years like the other past six military tribunals against MB leaders.

* I is still uncertain whether both charges of terrorism and money laundry have been dropped against MB leaders.

Nasser Al Haffi, a member of the defence team, confirms that they were dropped. It is worth noting that there are two terrorism charges: The first charge is terrorism in money laundry which is directed against 29 defendants (7 main defendants and 21 accomplices). Al Haffi says that "terrorism has been dropped from the charge of money laundry.

This means that the money laundry is according to legal texts. This is because the law points to moneys "gained through terrorism". The second terrorism charge " running an outlawed organization whose method is terrorism", was ameded- says Al Haffi- to " Joining an outlawed organization", dropping " whose method is terrorism ". Thus Al Haffi confirms that both charges of terrorism and money laundry have been dropped, while the defence team chief, Abdul Moneim Abdul Maqsoud, sees that it is still too early to say so.

From numb.. to comfortably numb

I'm not sure if you would understand these writings. I think you cannot really catch it until you really experience it.
The feeling of being put under the pressure of walking in their shoes, and although you know that every step you take is another mistake to them, it continues, you continue and they continue in a non stop drama.

Here we are falling in that consequence of what I can call "Obligatory choices!!", I struggle for my dreams, thoughts and believes.. I have certainty that I'm right, I have certainty that I may end up failing too.. and all what I want is to have the chance to try and to be more like me!!

In contrary, they continue holding more tightly afraid to lose control, suffocating me and my dreams as everything that they thought I would be is falling apart right in front of them.

After a while, as you can see, I become so numb, tired of being what they want me to be, feeling so faithless lost under the surface...
Numb but still trying to struggle, numb but trying to live and stand.

After a longer while, you begin to lose hope.. saying to yourself: "It can ease your pain if you stop thinking about it".

They make you some idiot Do3'a, glad to see you "improving" on the "pills of advice" which they've always been making you swallow.

You know, it's as if you're bleeding, you're losing soul, while an idiot moron says: "Relax, I need some information first! Can you show me where it hurts?!".

But, in spite of the pain killing me, I move my lips to reply saying one thing:
I cannot explain, you would not understand. This is not how I am.
I have become comfortably numb!!

And inside me I know. When I was walking alive, I caught a bright ambitious dream, just out of the corner of my eye. I turned to look but it was gone, I cannot put my finger on it now. The man is grown, the dream is gone.I have become comfortably numb.

I realize that every second I waste is more than I can take, but at the same time I know that so much more aware I'm becoming and the time to be more like me and less like my parents hasn't come yet.

Until that, my soul is furled, my anthem has been shifted from

Numb to comfortably numb.

A big Southern!

To those who are interested in reading for Fahmi Hwaidi فهمي هويدي , I upgraded his page on Wikipedia "the Arabic version".

I suffered from lack of personal information about this great man, as he doesn’t speak a lot about himself or his life besides that nobody wrote about him.

If you know more, please extend
that article, and I'll try to translate it into english sooner or later.

Southern is coming Soon!

This Blog is Coming soon If Allah wills.

But I like to write something as a begining.

Ganobi is an arabic word which means "Southern". . South is not Just that area below the Equator .. It's a state of civilization , it's 80% of the earth which was destroyed, and still being destroyed, by the colonist west.

The history of the world started here.. It's thousands and millions of languages, cultures and religions.

I owe this term "Ganobi" to the french philosopher Roger Garaudy, when I read it for the first time in his books in the secondery school, specially "the graves diggers" , "How did we make the 20th century" ..

I chose to write it in Arabic "Ganobi" as I belong to this miserable area of world, although Egypt lies entirely above the Equator.. I'm Arab and southern ,, I'm a man outside the magnetic field of American Globalization.

It's ..

It's coming soon!
